Custom Material Creator
An advanced prompt-based tool for generating any learning artifact that the standard generators don’t cover — fully guided by your description and optional source materials.
What It Does
The Custom Material Creator is an advanced prompt generation tool. It allows you to create completely custom AI-generated artifacts by writing a detailed prompt, choosing an output format, and optionally attaching source materials. Where the other generators in PreseMaker have fixed pipelines (slides → .pptx, quiz → QTI), the Custom Material Creator is open-ended — you describe what you want in as much detail as possible and the AI produces it.
Artifacts created here are saved to the module alongside everything else and appear in the Module Status panel’s Custom Materials count. They can also be listed and viewed directly from within the form.
This is an advanced prompt generation tool. The description/prompt field is the most important part — describe what you want to generate as thoroughly as possible. The more specific your description, the better the output. Sources are optional but can significantly improve quality when your artifact needs to be grounded in specific content.
Form Options
Output Format (Required)
You must specify the format the AI should produce. Options include HTML formats (Gutenberg, Interactive, Printable), Markdown, plain text, JSON, or any other format you describe in the prompt. The selected format tells the AI how to structure its output so it’s immediately usable.
Sources (Optional)
Attach any combination of source materials to give the AI grounding context: existing PowerPoint files, documents, web pages, YouTube transcripts, or pasted text. Sources are optional — the AI can work from the description alone — but they improve accuracy and specificity when the artifact needs to reflect particular content.
Description / Prompt (Key Field)
The description field is the most critical input. Write a thorough, specific description of exactly what you want to create. Good prompts include:
- What type of material it is (study guide, rubric, lesson plan, glossary, case study, scenario, etc.)
- The target audience and their level
- Specific topics or concepts to cover or emphasize
- Length, depth, and structure expectations
- Any special requirements (accessibility notes, specific formatting, tone, etc.)
Generation & Iteration
Generate
Click Generate to send the prompt and sources to the AI. The result appears in the response panel. You can review it, refine the prompt, and regenerate as many times as needed within the same session.
Refine & Regenerate
After reviewing the output, update the description or adjust the sources and regenerate. Each generation attempt is tracked in the session — you can compare responses and choose the best version before saving.
Save & View
Save the finished artifact to the module with a name you choose. All saved custom materials are viewable directly from this form — click View Materials to browse, open, or delete previously created artifacts for the current module.
Example Use Cases
- A detailed rubric for assessing the module’s assignment, formatted as a printable HTML table
- A glossary of key terms from the module content, in Gutenberg HTML for a WordPress course page
- A case study scenario based on the module topics, written as a narrative for group discussion
- A study guide that summarizes each topic with key points and self-check questions
- Instructor notes with teaching tips and common misconceptions for a specific module
- A structured lesson plan for delivering the module content in a live class session
